“Since 2007 we have diversified our business and expanded our presence overseas. Ten years ago the gross premiums written generated from foreign markets amounted to less than five percent of our total gross premiums written. Now, that share has shot up to twenty-one percent, or forty-two percent of total net premiums written,” Hidalgo said.

PSE President/CEO Ramon Monzon and other PSE executives joined NRCP Directors and management officers in the special ceremony. “As the only domestic reinsurance company in the country, NRCP plays an important role in the development of the Philippine insurance industry,” Monzon said in his remarks. “Over the years, we have seen NRCP expand its reinsurance business, particularly in the non-life segment, thereby fulfilling its mandate to increase the retention of business within our country.”

NRCP debuted at the PSE on April 27, 2007. Its initial public offering was among the activities under its Capital Enhancement Program to increase its capital base, and its capacity to underwrite and retain.
