2 August 2019—The National Reinsurance Corporation of the Philippines (Nat Re) partners with its corporate social responsibility partner FEED, Inc. (Fostering Education & Environment for Development, Inc.) and Habil Crafts in conducting a workshop on urban gardening for Nat Re’s employees. The activity is part of Nat Re’s corporate social responsibility program which is focused on boosting communities’ resilience to disasters and promoting environment sustainability.

In the workshop, Habil Crafts owner Marz Conti shared his knowledge on air plants or tillandsias which are suitable to be grown indoors as they require no soil and absorb nutrients and water through their leaves. He discussed the different kinds of air plants, the benefits of growing them, and helpful tips on plant selection, picking the right container, and proper care and maintenance.

Conti also provided the workshop participants with planting tools and materials and guided them in making their own mossariums to be placed inside the Nat Re office. Conti will conduct an assessment of the growth of the mossariums after six months.
