The National Reinsurance Corporation of the Philippines (Nat Re) is given an award for Top Investment House in Asian Local Currency Bonds by The Asset Benchmark Research Awards 2019. Nat Re is ranked fourth in the insurance industry in the Philippines.

The award-giving body uses their annual Asian Local Currency Bond Benchmark Review—now on its twentieth year—in determining the winners. The Review’s rigorous methodology involves surveying over 300 fixed income investors, including asset managers, hedge funds, banks, insurance companies, pension funds, and trusts, in 11 markets in Asia. The output is an authoritative, detailed, and actionable analysis derived from qualitative and quantitative input from the respondents.

Nat Re Vice President and Head of Investments Daisy Salonga and Fixed Income Portfolio Manager Francisco Lagman receive Nat Re’s award in Singapore.

“We are honored to have been recognized by The Asset alongside the largest insurance companies and financial institutions in the Philippines. Global recognition such as this affirms our prudence in financial management and demonstrates how else we can be a more relevant growth partner to our clients, the insurance companies.” Nat Re President/CEO Allan Santos said in a statement.

In determining the top investment houses, the Asset Benchmark Research first asked their survey respondents to nominate top sell-side individuals in research, sales and trading. These top individuals are then asked to vote for their top 10 Astute Investors based on stringent criteria. The Top Investment Houses are then ranked based on the number of votes won by the companies’ Astute Investors.

The Asset describes their Benchmark Research awards as Asia’s preeminent recognition for individuals, teams, and institutions that have excelled in their respective fields of Asian fixed income and corporate governance.
