The Securities and Exchange Commission’s Gender and Development (SEC GAD) has awarded the National Reinsurance Corporation of the Philippines (Nat Re), the country’s national reinsurer, with “Most Women Directors” for its outstanding gender-inclusivity as a publicly listed company (PLC).

Nat Re, along with BHI Holdings, Inc. and Monde Nissin Corporation, was determined by the SEC GAD to have the “Most Women Directors,” among PLCs, “thereby giving life to long-standing recommendation that boards should endeavor to be as diverse as possible, gender-wise, among others.”

“Nat Re has always stood strongly for good corporate governance, which is at the heart of any company committed to its stakeholders. Last year, we were recognized by the Institute of Corporate Directors as one of the country’s top Insurance Commission-regulated companies based on the ASEAN Corporate Governance Scorecard,” said Allan R. Santos, Nat Re President and Chief Executive Officer.

“And for us, vital to good governance is a welcoming workplace that promotes gender diversity and inclusivity. With such culture, we bring out the best in people, promote collaboration, and encourage the healthy exchange of various perspectives,” Santos added.

Nat Re was honored virtually at the SEC Gender and Development Awarding: Recognizing the Role of Women in the Corporate World last March 31, which aimed to recognize the role of women in the corporate world and companies’ good corporate governance practices on board diversity  for having empowered women on their boards, in line with the celebration of Women’s Month

As of 2022, women compose over 60% of all Nat Re employees, and almost 40% of Nat Re’s Board of Directors, namely Vice Chairman Yvonne S. Yuchengco, Treasurer Joli Co Wu, and Directors Maria Consuelo A. Lukban, Jocelyn DG. Cabreza, and Nora M. Malubay.

NAT RE BOARD OF DIRECTORS NAMED AS ONE OF THE PH’S MOST GENDER-INCLUSIVE. Nat Re, represented Senior Assistant Vice President Gay Santos (2nd row, center), Assistant Vice President Nellie Merida (3rd row, center), and Corporate Communications Officer Franz de la Fuente (1st row, center), received the “Most Women Directors” award at the virtual SEC GAD Awarding ceremony last March 31.
